Handmade Alpaca throw blanket - cream
This alpaca blanket has been entirely handmade, from yarn to finished product!
It has been made by two Quechua weavers, Demesia Sinchi and Juliana Huaman from Chaullacocha, an Andean community at an altitude of 4200m.
The blanket has been hand-woven on a back-strap loom, which means that the weaver pulls the fabric taut with her own body, and its manufacture took the two artisans about a month - from spinning the yarn to the finished woven blanket.
Material and dimensions: 100% natural un-dyed alpaca, sustainably sourced from free-ranging herds in the High Andes, 135 x 155cm (plus fringes)
This un-dyed alpaca fibre is hypoallergenic and is softer and warmer than regular wool
